Upgrading My Brand New Yamaha Stage Custom Birch 13x9 Tom – Full Install & Sound Demo!
In this video, I take my brand new Yamaha Stage Custom Birch 13" tom and give it a proper upgrade for better tone and performance.
I replace the stock hoops with 2.3mm triple flange hoops on the batter side only, then swap both heads for Evans G2 Clear on the batter and Evans G1 Clear on the resonant side.
Using the Tune-Bot Studio and its app, I tune the tom evenly across all lugs to F# (2nd octave) at 159Hz on both top and bottom. I also share the Tune-Bot settings I recommend for the full tom set:
16" Floor Tom: 126Hz (D 2nd octave) top & bottom
13" Tom: 159Hz (F# 2nd octave)
12" Tom: 200Hz (A# 2nd octave)
10" Tom: 253Hz (D 3rd octave)
