On Friday, 28th of December 2012, I launched Helensburgh.com.au. It is a passion project — I grew up there, and I dearly enjoyed playing in and around Helensburgh when I was young.
Why Helensburgh.com.au
The more history I found out about the place, the more I was surprised and inspired to explore its stories and secrets. I still have much to add, as Helensburgh has a rich coal mining and rail history, not to mention its characters and early pioneers.
Natural beauty on the escarpment
Helensburgh, and the greater 2508 area, has some spectacular natural offerings. The Illawarra Escarpment is a wonderment to all who view it from many vantage points along the coastline — but the best views are from the hang gliders and paragliders.
I'm yet to take a leap off Bald Hill, but online video sharing in Hi-Def can give one a decent experience (nothing like the real thing, however).
