I received a pleasant email the other day from Robert Carr of Illawarra News, stating that I have been nominated and shortlisted for an Illawarra News Award, recognising outstanding community-journalism and advocacy. The awards night will be held at the University of Wollongong, SMART building on Saturday 15th June 2013 from 5.30pm–8pm.
I have been nominated for my contribution to community building, through my website Helensburgh.com.au, plus other contributions I have submitted to Illawarra News.
Debra Jopson, (a Walkley Award Winner) will give a keynote address on the night.
I’m very happy to be nominated but I don’t believe I have a hope in hell of taking out any category. I am grateful to be nominated, and be included in the nominee list that has some very deserving people.
